…foraging from your front door…

So back at the start of 2020, I was contacted by a photographer, some guy I’d not heard of at that point, called Trevor Ray Hart.

After a quick bit of Google-stalking (if that’s not in the Oxford English Dictionary yet, it darned well should be), I started checking out some of his work, and was really struck by how ‘natural’ it all looked - despite its very contemporary feel - with a real appearance of authentic spontaneity.

Trevor was interested in working together on a series of general foraging photos, to be included as part of a larger project he was working on about people who worked, in the main, outdoors. The whole idea fascinated me, as did working with him, and I jumped at the opportunity.

…then along came the metaphorical spanner in the works… the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic…

But strangely enough this - offset against the restrictions of movement placed on many, which confined them very much to their immediate locality - led to a noticeable upsurge in interest in the outdoors. Once the opportunity to meet in person became possible again, we realised that we had both been separately thinking that it would possibly be a much more interesting idea to focus on a less traditional aspect of foraging, namely the idea of doing it in an urban location. Especially as this was, ultimately, the environment that had been many people’s source of freedom during the period that will forever more be known as ‘Lockdown’.

Anyway, here are just a few of the results. The rest can be seen in the full gallery.
